Description
Converse CTAS 70's Hi Renew Shoes
With distinctive grey and white speckled uppers made from a blend of polyester and cotton canvas offcuts, these Converse CTAS 70's Hi Renew Shoes are a part of a new consciously driven project which uses post industry waste materials to create unique Converse footwear styles. Following the original design of the CTAS 70’s Hi, the durable rubber toe cap remains, coloured in egret and above a full recycled lace up fastening loops through metal eyelets and helps to keep the foot in place. On the inner side of the shoe a printed ‘Converse Chuck Taylor All Star’ circular patch has been added for signature branding and replaces the usual leather design. Below this, two metal eyelets encourage ventilation and within the shoe an OrthoLite sockliner protects the foot from high impacts. The layered rubber outsole incorporates an additional textured panel around the front of the foot for durability and on the heel a license plate stamp shows further branding. The sole is speckled which means it’s made from recycled materials and the tread pattern delivers reliable grip for everyday wear.
Arriving in a colourway inspired by the earth, the Converse Renew project was launched in the summer of 2019 and demonstrates Converse’s efforts to become more sustainable by using post industry waste that would have otherwise been thrown away. The second part of the project sees the brand collaborate with UK based vintage store Beyond Retro to create shoes with vintage denim uppers that resulted in no two pairs being the same.
